Boryspil Airport Expands Aviation Security Training Facility

11 July 2019

Recently the Aviation Security Service training facility has been equipped at Boryspil International Airport State Enterprise. This is a realistic imitation of the aircraft handling area on the airports apron. Training process will be held aboard the training plane Boeing 737, surrounded with the real apron equipment – stairway, electrical cars, loaders, apron buses and other apron machinery.

Works were performed by the initiative of the airport Canine Training Center established in 2018, one of the priorities of development of which is the preparation of canine units.

Work of canine units at the airport is quite specific – large crowds of people, noise of aviation engines, scent of oils and lubricants, working at heights while checking the aircraft and many other factors that may influence the performance of sniffers. Thus, the main advantage of training is that canine units will be trained in a realistic simulated environment.

Improvement of skills on the training facility will be available not only to the airport services but also to law enforcement agencies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Security Service of Ukraine, State Boarder Service of Ukraine and State Emergency Service of Ukraine. It may also interest the air carriers, as it enables them to perform aircraft passenger and crew evacuation trainings.
