Boryspil Airport ICAO Training Centre reported on its activities at the Global Meeting of Directors of ICAO

On November 25 – 28, 2024, the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO held a meeting of Directors of Aviation Security Training Centres in Hong Kong (China) to improve the global level of aviation security in accordance with the ICAO Global Aviation Security Plan, which aims to promote a strong global aviation security system based on the effective implementation of Annex 17 ‘Aviation Security. Safeguarding International Civil Aviation against Acts of Unlawful Interference’ in all ICAO Member States. The meeting was attended by the directors of ICAO Aviation Security Training Centres from 28 countries, Ukraine was represented by the ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre of Boryspil International Airport.

At the event, Iryna Safarova, Head of the ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre at Boryspil Airport, presented the results of the Centre’s work during the war in Ukraine. In her speech, Ms. Safarova emphasised that the Boryspil Aviation Security Training Centre did not suspend its work despite the war in the country, but rather strengthened it with new courses and training programmes for aviation security specialists that meet modern international technologies and standards.

‘The representatives of the ICAO management expressed a positive assessment of the activities of the ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre at Boryspil Airport and especially noted the impressive scope of training provided to specialists, the resilience and perseverance of our Centre, in general, despite all the challenges that Ukrainian civil aviation is experiencing today,’ added Ms. Iryna.

Participation in the General Meeting is an important event to confirm the status of Boryspil Airport as a regional ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre and further positive assessment of its activities by ICAO.

 ‘It is important for us not only to maintain our potential and competencies  in aviation security issues, but also to demonstrate the results of this important work to the international aviation community, constantly improve our standards and ensure the highest level of flight safety and passenger security,’ Oleksiy Dubrevskyy Boryspil Airport CEO said.

In addition to the report, the event was aimed to determining the further strategy of the ICAO Aviation Security Training Centres for the next year in order to increase the capacity in the field of training, sharing experience, taking into account new technologies and challenges to ensure the security of civil aviation.
