Boryspil Airport Presents The Experience Of Ukrainian Airports At ACI EUROPE 2026
25 June 2026
Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, CEO of Boryspil International Airport, presented the experience and resilience of Ukrainian airports to the international aviation community during the 36th ACI EUROPE Annual Congress & General Assembly 2026, held in Prague, Czech Republic.

The ACI EUROPE Annual Congress & General Assembly is one of the leading events in the European aviation industry, bringing together airport leaders, airline representatives, regulators, international organisations and aviation experts to discuss strategic challenges and the future development of air transport.
Ukraine’s participation carried particular significance this year, as the experience of Ukrainian airports operating under the conditions of a full-scale war was included in the official programme of the Congress. During the keynote interview, “Four Years On – How Have Ukrainian Airports Weathered the Ongoing War and How Are They Preparing for the Restart of Operations”, Oleksiy Dubrevskyy shared his vision and practical experience in maintaining the operational readiness of Ukrainian airports, which have been operating under a prolonged airspace closure for more than four years.
The discussion focused on preserving airport operational readiness, maintaining professional capabilities, preparing for the eventual resumption of flights, and identifying the conditions necessary for the safe and responsible restoration of civil aviation in Ukraine.
One of the key messages of the discussion was that the Ukrainian aviation sector has not been standing still throughout the war. Airports have continued to maintain operational readiness, preserve critical expertise, and systematically prepare for the future restart of operations.
Particular attention was given to how Ukrainian airports have managed to preserve the essential elements of the country’s aviation system despite the prolonged closure of the airspace and the unprecedented challenges posed by wartime conditions.
“For more than four years, Ukrainian airports have not simply been preserving infrastructure — we have been preserving the foundation of the entire national aviation system.
Our task has been not only to endure, but also to remain ready for the restoration of air connectivity when the necessary conditions emerge.
Ukraine is not simply preparing for the return of flights. We are preparing to reconnect Ukraine with Europe and the world through a framework built on safety and responsibility.
That is why, throughout these years, we have preserved not only infrastructure, but also the capability to resume operations safely and efficiently.”
— Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, CEO, Boryspil International Airport
Symbolically, Boryspil Airport’s participation in this year’s Congress came one year after receiving the ACI EUROPE Exceptional Resilience Award. In 2025, the European airport community recognised the airport’s team for its professionalism, resilience and ability to maintain operational readiness under the conditions of a full-scale war.
Participation in the Congress once again confirmed that Ukrainian airports remain an active part of the European aviation community and continue preparing for the safe and responsible restoration of Ukraine’s air connectivity once the airspace reopens.
Boryspil International Airport expresses its sincere gratitude to ACI EUROPE and its international partners for their consistent support of Ukraine and the Ukrainian aviation sector.
