Boryspil International Airport hosted a workshop on risk factor management under the auspices of ICAO

On March 19 – 22, 2024 certified instructors of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) conducted a workshop on risk factor management in the context of aviation security at the ICAO Training Center for Aviation Security of Boryspil International Airport,.
The workshop was attended by specialists from the State Aviation Service of Ukraine, Boryspil, Lviv, Odessa airports, the State Guard of Ukraine, the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
During the workshop, most of the time was devoted to working in groups where a practical risk assessment was carried out according to the proposed threat scenarios, the level of which was determined separately. The participants were presented with a general methodology and conceptual approach that was worked out by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) worldwide.
“Today we live in the environment where the ability to manage risks is one of the key elements that enables us to comprehensively analyze and assess specific situations and build a reliable flight safety architecture, which includes an integrated approach to ensure its acceptable level,” said Olexiy Dubrevsky, Director General of Boryspil Airport.
Providing quality training in the field of aviation security is a common aspiration, because the initiators of the workshop are both sides – Boryspil International Airport and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). As the organization’s certified instructors noted, this is one of the most important seminars for aviation security specialists, and the composition of the participants fully ensures interaction between the main persons involved in the risk assessment process.
Typically, such events under the auspices of ICAO on the basis of ICAO training centers are held once a year. But last year, two such events were conductede on the basis of the ICAO Aviation Security Training Center of Boryspil International Airport – a workshop on risk factor management and a workshop on safety culture.
The workshop on risk factor management is a key course of today. With regard the immediate readiness to resume flights, adequate risk assessment is a fundamental element. Therefore, on the basis of this, comprehensive measures will be implemented to ensure the highest safety standards.
All participants were issued certificates by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
