Boryspil International Airport signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hyundai Engineering & Construction, the famous Korean company

On July 14, 2023, in Warsaw, Poland, Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, Director General of Boryspil International Airport and Yun Yong Zhong, President and CEO of Hyundai Engineering & Construction, the global Korean construction company (Hyundai E&C), and Kim Keong-Soo, Chief Operating Officer, in the presence of Won Hee Ryong, Minister of Lands, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea, signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The document provides for partnership and cooperation between the two parties in order to restore and develop the aviation infrastructure of Ukraine.

The Memorandum was signied as a result of negotiations on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2023 (URC 2023), that is an International Conference on Restoration of Ukraine issues , that was held in London on June 21-22. In general, at URC 2023 Oleksiy Dubrevskyy held a number of important meetings and substantive negotiations with foreign partners – business holders, international organizations and investors. During the negotiations, representatives of Hyundai E&C showed a high interest in investing their funds and technological experience in the implementation of infrastructure projects for the reconstruction of Ukraine, in particular in the rebuild of aviation infrastructure.

“We witness and appreciate the efforts of international partners to help Ukraine to rebuild in the aftermath of the war. The conference in London confirmed the investment attractiveness of Ukraine, since the whole world is confident in our victory, after which the utmost will be necessary to do for our country to become at the level of the leading European and world states. We are pleased to sign a memorandum with Hyundai E&C, which opens up new opportunities for the development and upgrading of civil aviation, this cooperation will essentially strengthen the development and rebuilding not only of Boryspil airport, but also the entire Ukrainian aviation industry, “said Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, Director General of Boryspil Airport.

During the drawing up the Memorandum, representatives of both Parts expressed their joint confidence that this cooperation would be an example of a successful partnership between Ukraine and Korea. They also expressed hope that the renewal of the Boryspil airport infrastructure will be an important step in the development of the Ukrainian aviation sector and will promote an economic growth of Ukraine.

“In view of the geographical location of Ukraine, it has strategically important air routes and significant potential for the development of the aviation sector. Hyundai E&C sees an opportunity to use this potential and promote the development of the aviation industry of Ukraine. Now foreign investment attraction for improvement of the security and sustainability of the aviation sector is an important stage in the program of all-Ukrainian reconstruction. The signatories of the Memorandum identified mutual needs and areas of cooperation in projects in Ukraine and agreed to explore the possibility of cooperation in the field of rebuilding and development of the aviation industry of Ukraine.
