Boryspil International Airport took part in the Ukrainian-Korean business forum on Ukraine’s Recovery

On September 14, 2023, the Ukrainian-Korean Business Forum on Reconstruction Cooperation of Ukraine was held in Kyiv with the participation of Olexander Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine and Won Hee Ryong, (South) Korean Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport.

The Ukrainian-Korean Business Forum was organized to introduce foreign investments in the implementation of infrastructure projects for the revival of Ukraine. The presented projects are considered to strengthen economic cooperation between Ukraine and South Korea. In particular, promising areas for the involvement of Korean companies in the reconstruction of the country are upgrading and reconstruction of the transport network, infrastructure, aviation sector.

At the plenary meeting of the forum on the implementation of projects for the reconstruction of the mentioned fields, the infrastructure projects of Boryspil International Airport were presented in detail; they will require essential investments for further reconstruction of airport infrastructure and procedures. Their implementation will help to bring to life the main mission of the Boryspil airport, that is to become a high-tech European hub promoting the increase of the Ukraine’s investment attractiveness and playing a key role in the development of trade and tourism in the country.

In his speech, Won Hee Ryong, (South) Korean Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport called South Korea a reliable partner of Ukraine and which will assist to restore it. As part of Ukraine’s reconstruction program, Korean business will also invest in Boryspil International Airport restoration and development project in order to increase its capacity: “We consider Ukraine as a partner not for a short-term period, we are talking about a partnership. Working together on Ukrainian projects, we hope that based on the Korean experience of post-war reconstruction, we can help rebuild Ukraine, and we will make as much effort as possible for this.”

It is important to note that on July 14, 2023, the Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, Director General of Boryspil International Airport signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Yoon En-jung, the President of Hyundai Engineering & Construction (Hyundai E&C),the global Korean construction company, in the presence of Won Hee Ryong, (South) Korean Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport. The document envisages partnership and cooperation between the two parties aiming at rehabilitation and development of the Ukraine’s aviation infrastructure. Currently, the parties have already stepped in the phase of detailed analysis and discussion of specific investment projects.
