The British Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) has started the certification procedure of Boryspil Airport

The main air gateway of Ukraine – Boryspil Airport initiated international certification procedure of its procurement system: by the end of 2023 the airport is going to pass the certification procedure of procurement activities, which is being conducted by CIPS – the British Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply.

CIPS is a leading organization in the field of procurement, that sets standards for a companys` procurement function and supply chains at all levels. Successful certification will be a proof of the fact that procurement activities at Boryspil Airport are conducted under the highest international standards for procurement and supply management. The World Bank, IMF, EBRD and others apply the standards developed by the Institute to assess the efficiency and transparency of procurement.

Boryspil International Airport is currently undergoing Primary Award certification. Therefore, it has already been assessed according to special CIPS methods, and the development of the company’s procurement procedure has been analyzed. Professionals filled in questionnaires and were interviewed, and all the necessary documents were sent to the Institute’s experts for evaluation and transition to the next stage. The certification is based on a comprehensive analysis of procurement procedures, efficiency assessment, risk management in procurement and contract execution.

CIPS Certificate will confirm that the airport’s procurement activities are efficient and transparent. This will enable us not only to attract international investments for the implementation of the airport’s infrastructure projects, but also to facilitate the way to the resumption of flights,” said Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, Boryspil International Airport CEO.

In case of a successful completion of CIPS certification procedure, Boryspil Airport will be the first Ukrainian airport and one of the first state-owned enterprises in the country to receive a certificate for compliance of its main procurement procedures with the highest international standards, national legislation and ethical norms. For your info, among others Abu Dhabi Airports, London Luton Airport, and Manchester Airports Group have been certified in the airport sector.
