Canine trainings will be held at Boryspil International Airport for all airports in Ukraine

The dog training center of Boryspil International Airport was certified by the State Aviation Service of Ukraine.  As of today, it is the only center in Ukraine that holds trainings for dog groups to work in civil aviation according to ICAO standards and has the appropriate material and technical feasibility.

The curriculum includes 2 courses:

– the initial training for personnel dealing with safety of passengers and luggage, ensuring the cargo and mail safety with the help of specially trained service dogs to search for the smell of hidden explosives.  The course lasts three months (500 academic hours).

– a periodic training course to maintain qualifications lasting 109 academic hours.  After completing the training, participants receive state certificates.

The work of dog groups at the airport has its own specifics: crowds, noise of aircraft engines, smell of fuel and lubricants, work at height when inspecting aircraft and many other factors that can affect the work of a service dog.  Therefore, the main advantage of training is that canine groups will be trained in conditions as close as possible to real ones.

Working procedures will be performed near the runway onboard of Boeing 737 simulator, around which the real apron equipment is located – ladders, electric cars, forklifts, platform buses and other means of platform mechanization.  Not only airport services and canine divisions of Ukrainian airports will be able to improve their skills, but also law enforcement agencies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.  Airlines may also be interested in training and will be able to conduct training on the evacuation of passengers and crew from the aircraft.
