06 June 2023

On June 6, 2023, Adina Valean, the EU Commissioner for Transport of the European Commission and the delegation of the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine headed by Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, held a meeting in Lviv. During the meeting, a number of issues related to improving transport links between Ukraine and the EU were discussed, including both ground and air routes.

The participants of the meeting confirmed their desire to establish close partnership with Ukraine. It is assumed that such cooperation will result in essential refurbishment of the logistics network as well as in improvement of transport links between Ukraine and the EU, the construction of the Trans-European Transport Network, cross-border cooperation in the energy sector and goods exporting to the European Union as a whole. The key point of the meeting was signing of the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on Ukraine’s participation in the Connecting Europe Facility EU program.

Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, Director General of Boryspil International Airport, represented the delegation of the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine on Ukrainian civil aviation issues. The necessity of further support provision to the aviation sector of Ukraine was discussed together with European colleagues. “This is a significant event for the aviation sector, it brings Ukraine even closer to the European Union in the context of the aviation industry renovation and overcoming the consequences of the war with the support of international partners. Our European partners are well aware of how important it is now to support the aviation industry of Ukraine, which was the first and most affected by the aggressive war, “he said.

Thus, European partners continue to confirm their position of support for the Ukrainian aviation sector, which they already expressed earlier, at the International Aviation Conference Routes Europe 2023, that was held on May 9 – 11 in the Polish city of Lodz, in the work of which representatives of the Boryspil International Airport took part. We would like to remind you that at the conference hereinabove Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, Director General of the Airport, conducted a series of meetings and negotiations with European carriers, including potential partners, and was clearly convinced in the seriousness of the Europeans’ intentions to resume flights as soon as possible and described the opportunities at the Ukrainian aviation market after the war.
