German low-cost carrier Eurowings operates its first flight to Ukraine

01 September 2021

On September 1, the Airbus A320 Eurowings landed at Boryspil International Airport for the first time.

On the apron of the Airport, the aircraft was greeted by a water cannon. Representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Lufthansa Group in Ukraine and Boryspil International Airport took part in the meeting ceremony.

“We, as Lufthansa Group airlines, are pleased to increase our presence at Boryspil International Airport and introduce our new Eurowings route Kyiv-Dusseldorf with 3 weekly flights. After 30 years of successful operation of Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines flights to Kyiv, today Eurowings enter the market and offer our travelers from Kyiv even more opportunities to connect worldwide. With the new connections, the Lufthansa Group airlines offer around 70 weekly frequencies from Ukraine to Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Zurich and now Dusseldorf.” Karsten Zang, General Manager Sales Ukraine, Belarus, Turkmenistan and South Caucasus.

“This is a long-awaited event and we are extremely pleased that Eurowings is launching operations to Ukraine. It is our pleasure that Boryspil hosts one of the largest low-cost carriers in Europe. For us it is an honor and a new page of thirty years of cooperation of the Airport with Lufthansa Group. Today on the apron of the airport we see the liveries of many Lufthansa Group companies. Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines and Austrian Airlines have been complemented by the magnificent Eurowings. And this is a confirmation that the Ukrainian market is recovering and we have a great, bright future ahead of us. We wish Eurowings safe flights, new routes and happy passengers”, commented Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, Director General of Boryspil International Airport.

From now on, the airline will operate flights from Dusseldorf to Kyiv three times a week: every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, the board departs from Dusseldorf at 11:30 and arrives at Kyiv at 15:10, on Fridays departs at 06:50 and arrives at Kyiv at 10:30. In the opposite direction, the board departs every Monday and Wednesday at 15:55 and arrives at Düsseldorf at 17:40, departs from Kyiv at 11:15 on Friday and arrives at its destination at 13:00.
