Information regarding the actions due to the infection outbreak, caused by the coronavirus COVID-19 in particular regions of Italy

Due to the infection outbreak caused by the coronavirus COVID-19 in particular regions of Italy.

For the purpose of fulfillment of the assignment of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine, the epidemiologist on duty or his assistant (not Boryspil Airport employees) are to meet the flights arriving from Italy. Epidemiologist or his assistant will take temperature, as well as check for the symptoms of virus respiratory disease of passengers arriving to the Airport from Italy.

Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine sphere of jurisdiction and the procedure of meeting the flights arriving from the countries with complicated epidemiological situation.

Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine defines the list of countries with the complicated epidemiological situation. In case of making the relevant decision, Ministry of healthcare of Ukraine informs about the requirements, limitations, prohibitions, as well as provides the instructions regarding the further actions to the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine etc.

In case of arrival of the aircraft from the county with the complicated epidemiological situation, the representative of the State institution Laboratory Center on Air Transport of the MHC of Ukraine sanitary-quarantine unit on duty shall be the first to enter the aircraft (not Boryspil IA SE employee).

Doctor on duty checks the crew members and the passengers on their general health condition, takes temperature, as well as checks for the symptoms of the viral respiratory diseases.

The specialist evaluates the situation pursuant to the clinic and epidemiological data and in case of absence of the infected or those under suspicion of being infected, provides the allowance for further passenger and cargo handling etc. In case of confirmed case provides the instruction to drive the aircraft to the sanitary parking position.

What actions does the Airport take when handling the flights arriving from the countries with complicated epidemic situation?

Since the first day, Boryspil Airport monitors the operative information regarding the spread of the coronavirus infection 2019-nCoV and relentlessly follows the directives of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine, State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, as well as operates pursuant to the current procedural instructions. The Airport takes a complex of measures aimed at the exclusion of carrying in and spread of new coronavirus in Ukraine and takes care for the safety of its employees involved into the handling of flights arriving from the countries with the complicated epidemiological situation.

Boryspil IA SE together with State institution Laboratory center on air transport of the MHC of Ukraine worked over the plan of interaction in case of detecting people who are under suspicion of having an infectious disease.
The employees receive the actual information regarding the spread of the virus, as well as the symptoms of the disease caused by the 2019-nCoV virus.
The passengers and visitors of terminals are informed via media resources about the measures taken to decrease the risk of catching coronavirus infection.
There was imposed the enhanced anti-epidemiological regime of cleaning the airport facilities, arrival areas, passenger ground handling equipment with the disinfectant means (at least four cleanings per hour).
Additional disinfection of catering wares and interchangeable equipment from international connection flights is provided within the catering facilities.
Disinfectant dispensers are installed in the Airport terminals.
Personnel involved in the handling of the relevant flights are instructed on the procedures for detecting a person presenting with an infectious disease on board an aircraft and equipped with respiratory masks, rubber gloves and hand disinfectants.
Special carpets, treated with a disinfectant solution are installed on the stairs. All passengers step on a special carpet before getting to the airport terminal.
The airport reserved special aircraft parking spaces. In case of detecting a person with signs of infectious disease on board, an officer-on-duty of the sanitary-quarantine unit subordinated to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, gives an instruction to tow the aircraft to the designated sanitary parking place.
Due to the complicated epidemiological situation, the Airport is procuring thermal imaging pyrometers for the evaluation of infrared radiation via the optical systems.
Boryspil IA SE provides for the distribution of the Information questionnaire regarding the passengers residence and collection of relevant data concerning the suspicion of catching coronavirus.
In different Ariport areas were located bins for used personal protective equipment: gauze facial masks, rubber gloves etc.
Vehicles, used for handling the flights arriving from the countries with the complicated epidemiological situation are decontaminated with special disinfectant after operation.
Airport medical service specialists are prepared to assist the officer-on-duty of the sanitary-quarantine unit in case of detection of people suffering from symptoms of the infection.

The situation as of 24 February 2020

Boryspil Airport is under routine operation and follows the instructions of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, Ministry of the Healthcare of Ukraine and pursuant to the current procedural instructions.

As of 24 February 2020, there are 79 360 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19, 2 619 of which were lethal. 25 360 have already recovered.

2 098 cases in 29 countries were detected abroad China. 201 cases in European countries (Germany – 16; France – 12; Great Britain – 9; Italy – 157, Russia – 2; Spain – 2; Finland, Swiss and Belgium – one case in each of the countries)

There are no laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 detected in Ukraine.
