The meeting was aimed at establishing cooperation between Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Boryspil Airport for updating  the concept of Boryspil Airport development in the context of resuming normal operating activities and the possibility of raising funds for implementation of projects for the comprehensive modernisation of the airport infrastructure.“Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is a reliable long-term partner of the airport, thanks to which in 2012 a large-scale project for the construction of terminal D – the largest terminal in Ukraine – was implemented. Over 10 years of the terminal’s operation, more than 60 million passengers were served. It enabled the airport to reach a new level of passenger traffic, develop a route network and become one of the leaders  in the air transportation market in Europe. We are going to continue this successful experience of cooperation with our JICA partners, as it is not only the exchange of significant competencies that Japanese colleagues have, but also the opportunity of further implementation of airport infrastructure projects, “said Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, Director General of Boryspil Airport.

During the visit to the airport, JICA witnessed  that the airport infrastructure is at the highest level of readiness for the resumption of flights. The parties also agreed to coordinate actions to better implement joint future projects.JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) is a Japanese government agency responsible for providing international assistance and cooperation with various countries  throughout the world.

One of JICA’s priority programmes is to provide long-term urgent recovery assistance to Ukraine, totalling more than $575 million.
