Boryspil Airport reaches record volume of handled cargo: 40 thousand ton for the period of 11 months of 2021

Within the period from January till November 2021, Boryspil International Airport has shown positive trend in the volume of handled cargo. Thus, during these 11 months the cargo flow has amounted to more than 40,3 thousand ton. This is the peak performance for the last three years. Comparing to the same period of the previous year, the amount of handled cargo has increased by more than 7 thousand ton, which is 20%.
“Boryspil International Airport is the largest cargo aviation hub of Ukraine. We are fully prepared for the increase of the cargo flow and we have all the grounds: the required infrastructure capable to accept increased capacity cargo aircrafts and provide full scope of handling both upon arrival and departure, for this purpose, the Airport has all the required production facilities”, mentioned Boryspil International Airport Director General Oleksiy Dubrevskyy.
This year’s dynamics of handled cargo have increased comparing to the exemplary 2019 performance. Thus, during these 11 months there has been handled by 8,1% more cargo which is 40,3 thousand ton comparing to 37,3 thousand ton handled in 2019.
“82% of the total volume of air cargo transportation in our country is provided via Boryspil Airport. Therefore one of our top priorities for the nearest future is to expand cargo infrastructure. In particular, we have commenced works on the project of Cargo Terminal construction offering 120 thousand ton capacity per year and usable area amounting to 15-20 thousand square meters. The implementation of this project is one of the elements in the strategy of transforming the Airport into the hub of the European level”, noticed Oleksiy Dubrevskyy.
