More than 500,000 passengers chose Boryspil Airport in March

07 April 2021

In March 2021, Boryspil International Airport handled 534,353 passengers (of which 259,278 were regular flights passengers and 275,075 –  non-scheduled), which is 10% more compared with the previous March 2020 period (486,488 passengers).

Passenger traffic on domestic flights increased by 18.6% (40,1 thousand passengers) compared to March 2020. International passenger traffic is also showing growth – the number of passengers increased by 9,2% (494,3 thousand passengers).

The Top-5 destinations of Boryspil Airport in March 2021 were:

  1. Sharm el-Sheikh
  2. Hurghada
  3. Istanbul
  4. Dubai
  5. Minsk

It is worth noting that a year has passed since the COVID-19 pandemic shook the aviation industry. The most difficult period for Boryspil Airport lasted from March to May 2020 – regular flights were suspended and the airport served only special flights. Passenger traffic was extremely low, which explains the increase in passenger traffic in March this year.

For the objectivity reasons, a longer period should be considered: in the first quarter of 2021, Boryspil Airport handled 1,206,411 passengers (of which 633,004 were of regular flights, 573,407 – non-scheduled), which is 50,5% less than the same period in 2020 (for the 1st quarter of 2020, 2,436,875 passengers were handled).
