Boryspil International Airport has developed recommendations for passengers to create a barrier-free space

Following the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska «Barrier-Free» and the implementation of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine, Boryspil Airport continues to work on the implementation of the Barrier-Free Airport project to make it even more accessible to all passengers and visitors after the resumption of normal operations.
Airport specialists, together with experts from the NGO «Barrier-Free», conducted a detailed audit with further analysis and development of measures to adapt the infrastructure and navigation at the airport to make all 25 routes accessible to passengers with disabilities, paying special attention to the needs of people with mental differences.
After the resumption of normal operations, Boryspil Airport strives to be the most accessible and comfortable environment for all passengers, where modern barrier-free standards are implemented as a common social norm. Social stories – detailed step-by-step presentations consisting of illustrative material and textual explanation – were developed precisely with the aim of promoting a comfortable stay for passengers with mental disorders or with disorders of the autistic spectrum.
The stories provide an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the necessary algorithm of actions during your stay at the airport in advance, prepare for the sources of sensory load available at the airport, and orientate yourself in real time during your visit to the airport. The step-by-step stories are designed to provide equal opportunities and inclusive space for all passengers, to have simplified access to information, services and airport space.
